Thoughts of establishing a Tarbert Lodge were voiced at a meeting of Lodge Lochfyne 754  on  5 August 1920. It was not until November 1922 that this question of a new lodge had to be answered, for by this time there was some 53 members of Lodge Lochfyne actually resident in the Tarbert area, and the Lodge indicated a general agreement on the matter. A petition was prepared and placed before the Lodge on 23 November 1922 which received unanimous agreement from all present. The new petition was presented to Lodge Lochfyne on 7 December 1922 and all being in order, was signed by Right Worshipful Master Bro Andrew V Peterson, Senior Warden Bro M Burnett and Junior Warden Bro J Auld, amidst great acclaim from all present.
The petition was then forwarded to Grand Lodge for consideration and some weeks the new charter was received on 1 February 1923 under the name Tarbert,Tarbert Loch Fyne No 1306.

The two sponsor lodges for Lodge Tarbert, Tarbert Lochfyne 1306 were Lodge Lochfyne 754 and Lodge Kyles of Bute 1120. The first meeting was held on 11 th May 1923, where 121 brethren were present to consecrate the lodge.
